Pahla
Pahla grew up in Youngstown, Ohio and graduated from Ursuline High School in 1998. She was involved in drama, National Honors Society, and several choirs. She attended Grove City College and majored in Elementary Education. She was a member of Gospel Team, a tight-knit choir ministry. She was also coerced into joining OSG by yours truly. Lucky for me, she likes Star Wars too. She graduated from GCC in December 2002. She lives with her brother Luke and her mother, Martha Krautter. Her sister, Carina, and father, Dr. Frank Krautter, are both deceased. She is now a substitute teacher for the Sharon City Schools. -- by Ivan
How We Met
Our mutual friend Anna Lachman (now Anna Hight) introduced us in the mail hall of Grove City College. It was the first day after Christmas break in 1999 and the three of us stood there talking for about an hour. We really enjoyed each other's company. At one point in the conversation, Ivan brought up the new Star Wars Episode I. Pahla deftly mentioned the exact opening date which impressed Ivan very much. (Pahla: The only reason I knew the date was because it happened to be my birthday.) We saw each other again at a party in Becky's room. While everyone else was watching Mulan, Ivan was making his move. Pahla didn't notice. (Ivan: Hey!) Heehee. Ivan convinced Pahla to go laser tagging with the group, and from there he convinced her to go to Winter Feast, where he was really going to make his move. :o)
The Proposal
It was Memorial Day, 2002 so Ivan had the day off. The day was gorgeous. It
was warm, bright, and sunny. He invited me out to lunch at Cancun, our
favorite Mexican Restaurant. We had a very nice time talking and the food was
great. When we went out to his car he turned to me and said ‘What should we do
on such a beautiful day?”. So I said, “Let’s go to the flower gardens.” So he
scrunched his face and said, “Eh, ok, I suppose we could go to the gardens.”
When we got there I started talking about the most romantic spot in the gardens,
having no idea he was actually looking for a romantic spot. I told him I
have always loved the weeping willows in the gardens because the branches touch
the ground and it is like a beautiful sanctuary inside. Well needless to
say, he suggested going under the tree, so we went. It was cool within the
willow's branches. Ivan said "It is perfect." "Yup" "No,
you don't understand" *meaningful look* "It is perfect."
I held my breath. Ivan reaches in his back pocket and kneels down.
He then asked me to marry him. (Yay!) Of course I said I would marry
him. And I put on a beautiful ring that pledged his intent to marry me.

Our Hobbies
For Christmas this year, Pahla gave Ivan a cat! Now we spend any spare time grooming, feeding, and generally enjoying the new member of Ivan's family. Ivan named him Pippin after a hobbit in The Lord of the Rings.
Ivan likes spending his time playing computer games, talking with friends on the internet, reading books, and playing games.
Pahla likes to travel the world. Well, at least she would like to but has only been to Peru and England. She likes to read, watch movies, and canoe. Her favorite games are Mah Jong and Sequence.
By the way, when the new game, Star Wars Galaxies comes out, we are going to try to have all our friends join the same server. We will be playing on the Lowca server (US East Coast). Hope to see you online!
Our Dreams
We would one day like to get jobs that we enjoy. Several years after we are married, we would like to begin having children. We hope to bring them up in the way of the Lord. We plan on continuing our friendships with the people who have been so important to us. Some day, we would like to buy a house or build our own.
Is it Paula or Pahla?
There is a word in the Hebrew language that sounds like "Paula" that means "Chosen". Dr. Frank Krautter wished to name his second daughter using the Hebrew spelling of this word. But for the sake of tradition she was given the spelling "Paula". So legally Pahla's name is spelled "Paula". However, when she was a young teenager, she chose to embrace the idea that she was chosen by God. She knew the origin of her name so she began to spell her name "Pahla". Pahla intends to change the official spelling of her first name when she changes her last name this summer. We are registered with the spelling of "Paula".
